MG Restorers Association is recognised by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) as an approved Historic Vehicle Club and participates in the Historic Vehicle Scheme (HVS). Vehicles registered under this scheme attract a number of benefits - registration fees are very reasonable and green slip insurance is organised by TfNSW at attractive rates. In addition most insurance companies offer fully comprehensive insurance at reduced rates.
However there are restrictions which must be followed:
To be eligible under the scheme, the vehicle must be more than 30 years old; it must not be modified beyond original specifications, except for safety items like seat belts, turning lights - no high ratio axles, no five-speed gearbox, no Mazda engines. A full list of acceptable accessories or options is available from TfNSW here and from the Council of Motor Clubs here . By lodging the application with us, you assert that the car meets these conditions.
A logbook allows you to use vehicles registered under the Historic and Classic Vehicle Schemes for up to 60 days per year for maintenance and personal use (general use), outside of club-organised events.
For detailed explanation of how to join the program, or renew your concessional registration, please contact our Registrar.
